Italian renewable energy company ERG has completed construction and commenced operations at its 47-megawatt (MW) Corlacky wind farm in Northern Ireland, the company said on Friday.
The project comprises 11 Vestas V117 turbines, each rated at 4.3 MW, and is expected to generate around 176 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity annually, equivalent to approximately 3,750 full-load hours. ERG said the output will avoid 66,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year and meet the electricity needs of about 55,360 UK households.
The energy produced and associated Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs) are secured under a power purchase agreement signed earlier this year.
Paolo Merli, ERG chief executive, said, “The start-up of the Corlacky wind farm, located in an area with strong wind resources, confirms the strength of the Group’s growth strategy and reinforces our position in the United Kingdom, where we have 340 MW of installed wind capacity.
