TetraSpar Launches Innovation Challenge to Foster Advancements in Floating Wind Technology

In a collaborative effort, the shareholders of the Demonstrator floating wind project have recently introduced the global “TetraSpar Innovation Challenge.” This initiative aims to foster the discovery of groundbreaking solutions that address the cost, technical, and environmental challenges associated with the installation, operation, and maintenance of floating wind turbines.

Participants in the competition are encouraged to propose innovative ideas that can either be demonstrated in real-life conditions using the TetraSpar Demonstrator itself, which has been successfully generating power at the METCentre test site in Norway since December 2021, or through comprehensive desktop studies utilizing operational data.

Companies, start-ups, as well as research or academic organizations from all corners of the globe are invited to submit their entries. The primary goal is to encourage contributions that will help pave the way for the widespread adoption of commercial-scale floating wind technology.

Following the closure of the application period on June 18, a distinguished panel of technical experts, including representatives from the TetraSpar Demonstrator Project shareholders, will carefully evaluate the proposals. The winning solutions are anticipated to be announced in August, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of floating wind technology.
