BayWa r.e. announced that Chief Executive Matthias Taft will leave the renewable energy company at the end of August 2025 following the mutual conclusion of his contract.

Taft’s duties will be temporarily managed by executive board members Daniel Gaefke, Elmar Geissinger, and Hans-Joachim Ziems until a successor is appointed by the supervisory board.

Supervisory board chairman Michael Baur expressed gratitude for Taft’s service, saying, “On behalf of the Supervisory Board and all colleagues, I would like to thank Mr Taft for his commitment to BayWa r.e. over the past 15 years, and for his invaluable support in helping to stabilise the company over the past twelve months.”

BayWa r.e. highlighted that a recently completed financing package and operational improvements provide a “solid foundation” for the company’s future transformation.

Taft reflected on his tenure, stating, “It has been both a pleasure and an honour to lead BayWa r.e. and to help shape its journey over the past decade and a half. I wish my colleagues and the company all the very best for the future. I am confident that the operational turnaround will succeed and that BayWa r.e. will regain its former strength.”
