Acciona Energía has signed an agreement to sell a 440-megawatt (MW) wind energy portfolio in Spain to independent power producer Opdenergy, the companies said on Tuesday.
The deal, valued at approximately €530 million, includes 13 operational wind farms located across the provinces of Albacete, Cádiz, Cuenca, Lérida, Valencia, and Zamora. The assets have an average operating life of 15 years.
The agreement also covers up to 351 megawatt-peak (MWp) of solar photovoltaic projects under development, which are linked to the hybridisation potential of the wind sites included in the transaction.
“The transaction is part of Acciona Energía’s asset rotation strategy, designed to enhance the value of its portfolio and strengthen its financial profile,” the company said in a statement.
Backed by Antin Infrastructure Partners, Opdenergy is expanding its footprint in the Spanish renewables market with the acquisition. The deal is expected to close before the end of the year, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
The planned divestment follows a series of recent moves by Acciona Energía to rebalance its portfolio. These include the sale of a 175MW hydropower portfolio to Elawan Energy and another 626MW to Endesa. In June, the company also announced the sale of its 136MW San Juan de Marcona wind farm in Peru to Lima-based utility Luz del Sur.
Acciona Energía has not disclosed how it intends to reinvest proceeds from the sale but has previously signaled a focus on accelerating development in key growth markets.
