Enefit Green is preparing to install the final turbine at its Kelme 2 wind farm project in Lithuania, marking a significant step toward completion of the 87 megawatt (MW) facility, the company said on Thursday.
The main crane has been relocated to the site for the final turbine installation at the wind farm, located in western Lithuania. Once operational, Kelme 2 is expected to generate approximately 315 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity annually, becoming Enefit Green’s largest wind farm in the country.
“Although the process was delayed due to strong winds, I see this as a good sign,” said Rokas Smilingis, Enefit Green project manager. “Soon, the wind farm will begin generating 86.8MW of clean energy, supplying the grid with high-quality green power. This will have a positive impact across all Baltic countries.”
Smilingis added, “I’m honoured to be part of this journey toward a more sustainable future with a great team.”
The Kelme 2 project follows Enefit Green’s earlier 80MW Kelme 1 wind farm and reinforces the company’s growing renewable energy presence in the Baltic region. No timeline for full commissioning was provided.
