Germany-based VSB Group has secured a 15-year contract for difference (CfD) for a 303-megawatt peak (MWp) solar power project in Poland’s Lower Silesian Voivodeship, its largest solar development to date.
The contract was awarded through the latest renewable energy auction conducted by Poland’s Energy Regulatory Office, the company said on Wednesday. Construction of the ground-mounted photovoltaic plant is expected to begin in October 2025, with grid connection scheduled for the second quarter of 2027.
Located northeast of Wrocław on a 260-hectare site, the plant is projected to supply electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of approximately 117,000 households.
“With this project, we are setting a new benchmark for solar energy in Poland, said Hubert Kowalski, managing director of VSB Poland. “In just a few years, it could evolve into one of Europe’s largest hybrid energy projects, combining photovoltaics, battery storage, and wind power.
VSB Group CEO Felix Grolman said the development “embodies the scale and ambition needed to drive meaningful change, while enhancing energy security in Poland and across Europe.
The announcement follows the completion of the 190.8MW Miejska Górka wind farm, Poland’s largest, delivered by VSB Poland for TAURON Zielona Energia. The company continues to expand its presence in Poland’s growing renewable energy sector.
