German technical consultancy ONP Management and Danish offshore specialist Semco Maritime have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly support the development of floating offshore wind projects globally, the companies said on Tuesday.
The partnership will focus on combining ONP Management’s project management and engineering capabilities with Semco Maritime’s experience in offshore infrastructure, including floating substation technologies. The companies aim to deliver integrated consultancy and engineering services for floating wind developments.
“As engineers, the core of our work is the utilisation of our expertise to develop new, innovative technical solutions,” said Knud Grimm, managing director at ONP Management. “By collaborating with Semco Maritime, ONP is taking a promising step forward in supporting our customers in developing floating offshore wind technologies and thereby contributing to the ongoing evolution of the energy transition.”
Semco Maritime has delivered more than 20 offshore substations and is currently engaged in several floating wind projects worldwide. The company also brings decades of experience in offshore infrastructure from both the wind and oil and gas sectors.
“At Semco Maritime, we believe in the power of collaboration to push the boundaries of innovation,” said Maria Jorgensen, business development specialist at Semco Maritime. “Partnering with ONP enhances our capabilities in floating offshore wind, combining our extensive experience with ONP’s engineering expertise.”
The companies said the MoU lays the foundation for future project delivery partnerships, with a shared goal of supporting the global expansion of floating offshore wind technologies.
Both firms described the agreement as part of their broader commitment to advancing the energy transition and contributing to a more sustainable energy system.
