Swedish renewable energy company OX2 has been awarded a contract to develop a 51-megawatt (MW) solar farm in southern Poland, following a successful bid in a recent government auction.
The project, which will be located in the Pinczowski and Buski districts of the Swietokrzyskie Voivodeship, marks OX2’s third solar farm development in Poland. Construction is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with commissioning scheduled between late 2027 and early 2028.
Once completed, the solar installation is projected to generate around 55 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity annually, enough to power approximately 22,000 households, the company said in a statement.
“This project is an important step in expanding our footprint in Poland’s renewable energy market,” OX2 said.
The new development builds on OX2’s previous success in Poland’s renewable energy auctions. In December 2024, the company secured 205MW of capacity, including a 40MW wind farm and a 165MW solar project.
In addition to solar and wind, OX2 has also expanded into energy storage. It recently won a 200MW capacity obligation for two planned energy storage facilities in Poland’s 2029 capacity market auction.
Poland has been increasing its focus on renewable energy sources as it transitions away from coal and seeks to meet EU climate targets.
