Iberdrola has selected Global Maritime to provide marine support services for the operations and maintenance (O&M) phase of the 496-megawatt (MW) Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm in France, the company confirmed.
The €2.4 billion project, developed by Iberdrola’s subsidiary Ailes Marines, is located approximately 16 kilometres off the coast of Brittany. Commissioned in 2024, the wind farm consists of 62 Siemens Gamesa turbines and is expected to generate 1,820 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity annually—enough to power around 835,000 people, or roughly 9% of Brittany’s electricity demand.
Global Maritime will provide a broad range of services under the new framework agreement, including vessel inspections, audits, marine consultancy, engineering, and Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) support. The contract will be managed through the company’s London office, with contributions from teams across Europe.
“We are delighted to have been appointed to this framework agreement by Iberdrola,” said Robert Askins, Global Maritime’s country manager. “This collaboration underscores our expertise in marine services and our commitment to supporting offshore renewable energy projects.”
The agreement will also draw on Global Maritime’s Memorandum of Understanding with Boslan, signed in April 2024. Boslan, part of Accenture, has previously worked with Iberdrola on Saint-Brieuc, providing marine consultancy, bidder evaluation, and HSE support.
UK marine lead Charlie Simcox said the agreement “highlights GM’s commitment to supporting the offshore wind sector with high-quality marine expertise.”
An Iberdrola spokesperson added: “We are looking forward to having Global Maritime support the marine services required for the O&M phase of Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm. Their extensive knowledge and experience in the marine industry will be of great benefit to the daily operations of the wind farm.”
Saint-Brieuc is France’s second commercial-scale offshore wind project and forms part of the country’s broader effort to expand its renewable energy portfolio.
