German renewable energy developer PNE Group said on Monday it has secured permits to construct and operate three new onshore wind projects across Germany, with a combined capacity of 46 megawatts (MW).
The projects include the addition of one turbine at the existing Gerdshagen wind farm in Brandenburg, a 7.2MW turbine at the Holzhäuser Berg site in Hesse, and five new turbines totaling 33MW at the planned Niederkrüchten wind farm in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The Niederkrüchten site is part of a broader energy park development, which will also feature a 20MWp photovoltaic installation.
Once operational, the three wind projects are expected to supply electricity to meet the annual consumption of approximately 36,000 three-person households, according to the company.
PNE said the approvals represent progress in the company’s ongoing strategy to expand its renewable energy portfolio.
“The permits granted are an important milestone for our continued growth,” said Roland Stanze, chief operating officer at PNE. “They not only confirm the successful progress of our project development, but also our many years of experience with complex approval processes.”
Stanze added that the projects align with PNE’s broader focus on wind and solar development, alongside emerging technologies such as Power-to-X and energy storage.
The new wind developments come amid Germany’s continued push to increase its renewable energy share in power generation, as part of the country’s long-term energy transition goals.
