Offshore services company DEME has launched its second wind turbine installation vessel, Norse Energi, at the Yantai CIMC Raffles shipyard in China, the company said on Tuesday.
The new jack-up vessel, designed by GustoMSC, is capable of installing turbines with rotor diameters exceeding 300 metres and handling XXL monopiles weighing up to 3,000 tonnes in water depths of up to 70 metres. It shares specifications with its sister ship, Norse Wind.
DEME described the launch ceremony as a celebration of a partnership with CIMC Raffles built on “trust, respect and excellence,” emphasizing that safety was a priority from the first steel cut in January through to the vessel’s launch.
Norse Energi will now proceed to the final stages of construction and outfitting.
The company expects Norse Wind and Norse Energi to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2025 and early 2026, respectively.
Both vessels will feature DEME’s signature green livery.
