A worker has died following a “fatal incident” at the construction site of the 450-megawatt Clarke Creek wind farm in Queensland, Australia, developer Squadron Energy said on Wednesday.
The company has suspended all work at the site and confirmed that the worker’s family has been notified and is receiving support.
“Our thoughts are with the worker’s family, friends and colleagues at this incredibly difficult time,” a Squadron Energy spokesperson said.
The Clarke Creek project, located in central Queensland, is set to include 100 turbines supplied by Goldwind, each with a capacity of 4.5 megawatts. The wind farm is among several large-scale renewable energy developments under construction in Australia.
Safety is our top priority across all sites, and the wellbeing of everyone on the Clarke Creek wind farm site is our immediate focus,” the spokesperson said. “We would like to acknowledge and thank the colleagues and first responders who responded to this tragedy.
The company said it will fully cooperate with the relevant authorities investigating the incident and requested that the privacy of the worker’s family and others affected be respected.
