Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has secured five new turbine supply contracts across Europe and Japan, totaling 274 megawatts (MW), the company said on Monday.
The orders, which form part of the company’s second-quarter intake, include a 143MW deal with Eurowind Energy for the Frumusita, Vector and Pecineaga wind farms in Romania. Vestas will supply and install 23 V162-6.2MW turbines, with delivery scheduled for the second half of 2026 and commissioning expected in 2027.
“We are proud to partner with Eurowind on this project, and we are grateful for their trust in us,” said Srdan Cenic, general manager of Vestas Mediterranean East. “This order demonstrates the strength of our local execution and service expertise, and our ability to deliver the latest wind technology in support of Romania’s energy transition.”
The agreement also includes a 20-year service contract, bringing Vestas’s installed or under-construction capacity in Romania to 1.5 gigawatts.
Additional contracts include a 50MW order in France and a 28MW deal in Romania for the delivery of 12 V117-4.2MW and eight V117-3.45MW turbines, respectively. Both projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
In Greece, Vestas has been selected to supply seven V136-4.5MW turbines for a 32MW project, also set for commissioning by mid-2026. Meanwhile, Japan’s Chubu Electric Power has ordered five V117-4.2MW units for the 21MW Atsumi II project, which is expected to come online in late 2027.
Each of the five contracts includes long-term service agreements ranging from 20 to 25 years. Vestas did not disclose the financial terms of the deals or the names of the developers for the projects in France, Romania, and Greece.
