Lightsource BP has signed its first power purchase agreement (PPA) in Taiwan for a 115-megawatt solar project that combines renewable energy generation with aquaculture, the company said on Thursday.
The agreement was signed with Star Trade, a subsidiary of HD Renewable Energy Group, and covers 100% of the electricity generated from the fishery-solar project located in Budai and Yizhu Townships in Chiayi County.
“Tailored PPAs accelerate the Asia-Pacific energy transition and deliver long-term local value,” the company said in a statement.
Construction of the project is currently under way, supported by approximately €175 million in arranged financing. Completion is scheduled for 2026, with the development expected to create up to 750 direct jobs during its construction phase.
The project marks Lightsource BP’s entry into Taiwan’s solar market and aligns with its broader strategy to expand renewable energy deployment across the Asia-Pacific region.
