All inter-array cables have been installed at the Îles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier (EMYN) offshore wind project, marking a key milestone in the development of the 512-megawatt wind farm off France’s Vendée coast, project partner Louis Dreyfus TravOcean said on Monday.
The installation of the 61st and final cable was carried out by Louis Dreyfus TravOcean, a subsidiary of Louis Dreyfus Armateurs, which is responsible for subsea cable work at the site.
“This latest milestone paves the way for a transmission capacity of 512MW,” the company said in a statement.
The offshore wind farm is being developed by Ocean Winds, a joint venture between EDP Renewables and ENGIE. Once operational, EMYN is expected to supply electricity to approximately 800,000 people.
Termination and testing operations are ongoing, led by Prysmian using the service operation vessel Island Diligence, owned by Island Offshore. These activities are scheduled for completion in July, Louis Dreyfus TravOcean confirmed.
Geoquip Marine’s vessel Geoquip Elena, which supported seabed survey and preparation work, is expected to be demobilised from Louis Dreyfus’ Dunkirk offshore base in early July.
The EMYN project remains on track for full commissioning by the end of 2025.
