French renewable energy company Qair has commissioned a new 13.5 megawatt (MW) wind farm in Altenschlag, Germany, as part of its ongoing efforts to expand operations across Europe.
The wind farm is expected to generate approximately 28 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity annually, supplying green energy to over 8,000 households. According to the company, the facility will help avoid more than 12,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year, aligning with the European Union’s climate objectives to cut emissions by 55% by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
“This project supports the EU’s climate targets and demonstrates our commitment to accelerating the energy transition,” Qair said in a statement.
Qair currently operates 53MW of installed wind and solar capacity in Germany and employs more than 100 staff in the country. The company is continuing to build its German portfolio, with a 31MW wind farm under construction and two additional projects — an 11.4MW wind facility and a 20MW / 44MWh battery energy storage system — in advanced stages of development.
The commissioning of the Altenschlag site comes shortly after Qair launched the Rokietnika solar farm in Poland and secured a tariff for the initial phase of a wind project in Romania.
Qair has been pursuing a broader strategy of strengthening its renewable energy footprint across Europe through a mix of wind, solar, and energy storage developments.
