Haesong Offshore Wind Power has selected LS Marine Solution as the preferred bidder for subsea cable transport and installation for its 1&3 offshore wind projects in South Korea’s Shinan region, the companies said on Wednesday.
The announcement follows the signing of a Preferred Supplier Agreement (PSA) on June 11 at Haesong’s Seoul office. The agreement outlines strategic cooperation ahead of the main engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract, including coordination on construction schedules and technical planning.
The two projects, each with a planned capacity of 500 megawatts (MW), are backed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), which leads project investment, while Copenhagen Offshore Partners, a CIP subsidiary, oversees execution.
“Signing this PSA with LS Marine not only strengthens our project delivery, but also helps elevate Korea’s offshore wind capabilities through local partnerships,” said Jonathan Spink, country manager for COP Korea. “Haesong will continue expanding practical collaborations with Korean firms to foster a sustainable energy ecosystem that grows both industry and communities.”
The agreement reflects Haesong’s focus on enhancing localisation and supply chain stability within South Korea’s offshore wind sector.
“This is a meaningful agreement that combines the expertise of a domestic leader in cable installation with our ambition to secure a stable and competitive supply chain,” said Kwon Ji-an, head of supply chain strategy at Haesong.
LS Marine CEO Kim Byung-ok welcomed the partnership. “We are committed to delivering our best capabilities, built over decades in subsea cable transport and installation, to ensure smooth and successful execution,” he said.
The 1&3 wind farms have received power generation permits and are currently undergoing final environmental review.
