Renewable energy company RES has been awarded new operations and maintenance (O&M) contracts in the United Kingdom and Spain by The Renewables Infrastructure Group (TRIG), expanding its European service portfolio, the companies said on Monday.
The new agreements include a five-year extension for the management of 11 solar photovoltaic (PV) sites in the UK, totalling 121 megawatts (MW), as well as a new five-year contract for four solar sites and a substation in Cádiz, Spain, which add 234 MW of capacity.
Together, the projects generate enough electricity to power more than 200,000 homes, according to RES.
“We’re proud to deepen our partnership with TRIG, helping deliver long-term, sustainable performance across its portfolio,” said Juan Gutiérrez, RES chief executive of services. “Recent grid disruptions in Spain highlight the growing need for advanced O&M expertise and data-driven decision-making to improve system resilience, minimise downtime and extend asset life.”
The contracts were awarded following a competitive tender process and build on a longstanding relationship between the two companies. RES said TRIG will benefit from its 24/7 control centre and proprietary solar technologies, including HelioLive and Optivert, which support data-driven optimisation of asset performance.
TRIG, a FTSE 250-listed investment company, has expanded its renewables portfolio across Europe and entered the Spanish market in 2021. Its solar assets in Cádiz became operational in 2023.
“RES has been a trusted partner to TRIG from the very start, and its operational expertise continues to support our portfolio performance across Europe,” said Minesh Shah, TRIG’s managing director. “We’re pleased to extend this relationship as we focus on reliable delivery and long-term value creation for our shareholders and stakeholders.
