Dajin has completed the delivery of all 36 monopiles for the Thor offshore wind project, currently under development by RWE off the west coast of Denmark. The 1.1-gigawatt (GW) project, located 22 kilometres off Jutland, is the country’s largest offshore wind farm to date.
Of the delivered monopiles, 11 have already been installed at sea. Dajin noted that delivery was finalised 11 days ahead of schedule, with no reported lost time injuries during the process.
“This achievement is a strong endorsement of our outstanding execution performance, which has been highly recognised by our client RWE,” a Dajin spokesperson said. “The Thor project represents a significant milestone for us, as it is not only our first TP-less monopile project but also the first project in which we took full responsibility for transportation.”
The company said the work, from initial steel cutting in January 2024 to completion, marked more than a year of close coordination with RWE and internal teams. The spokesperson added, “Throughout the Thor project execution, our team demonstrated remarkable resilience and adaptability.”
The Thor project is part of Denmark’s national strategy to expand renewable energy production and reduce carbon emissions. Once operational, the wind farm is expected to supply electricity to more than one million Danish households.
RWE remains the majority owner and lead developer of Thor and the German Nordseecluster offshore wind farm, with Norges Bank Investment Management holding a 49% stake in both projects.
Dajin confirmed it will continue working with RWE on the 1.6GW Nordseecluster project, expanding its footprint in the European offshore wind sector.
