Swedish utility Vattenfall has named Catrin Jung as the new head of its wind division, overseeing offshore and onshore wind, large-scale solar, and battery storage projects, the company said on Thursday.
Jung will take over the role on July 1, succeeding Helene Biström, who is stepping down after a long tenure at the company. She will also join Vattenfall’s Executive Group Management Team and report directly to chief executive Anna Borg.
“I am delighted to welcome Catrin as Head of the Wind Business Unit,” Borg said. “She brings strong leadership skills, deep industry knowledge and a clear, forward-looking vision based on a solid understanding of today’s realities.”
Jung joined Vattenfall in 2002 following her engineering studies at Leipzig University of Applied Sciences. She has since held a range of senior positions across strategy and market development. Most recently, she led the company’s offshore wind business and was involved in major investment projects.
“In these uncertain times, it is more important than ever to focus on our goal of achieving fossil fuel freedom,” Jung said. “By working closely with our customers, suppliers and stakeholders, we can address new challenges and create meaningful solutions that shape a sustainable and competitive future energy system.”
The appointment comes as Vattenfall continues to expand its renewable energy portfolio amid growing demand for clean power across Europe.
