Axpo Secures Acquisition of 25MW Battery Storage Project in Sweden

, a renowned international utility company, has recently finalized the acquisition of a prominent 25MW storage facility in Filipstad, Sweden. The project, previously owned by Sustainable Energy Solutions Sweden (SENS), is set to become one of the largest battery storage installations in the country. The primary objective of this facility is to provide ancillary services that will aid in maintaining the balance of the electricity grid.

With construction anticipated to commence in early 2024, Axpo is eager to embark on this venture. Alongside the battery storage facility, Axpo will simultaneously develop a ground-mounted plant with a capacity of up to 20MW at the same site. This solar project was also initiated by Sustainable Energy Solutions Sweden.

In a collaborative effort, Axpo and SENS will co-develop both the battery storage facility and the solar plant. Although the commercial terms of the transaction remain undisclosed, the partnership signifies the commitment of both parties to promote sustainable energy solutions.
