CDWE, a joint venture between CSBC Corporation and DEME Offshore, has completed the installation of 219 pin piles at the 1,022-megawatt Hai Long Offshore Wind Farm off the coast of Taiwan, project partners said.
The milestone was achieved using the Green Jade, Taiwan’s first locally built DP3 heavy lift vessel designed specifically for offshore wind construction.
The Hai Long project is being developed by a consortium comprising Japan’s Mitsui & Co., Canada-based Northland Power, and Malaysia’s Gentari International Renewables. The project includes the 518MW Hai Long 2 and the 504MW Hai Long 3 developments and will use 73 Siemens Gamesa 14MW turbines.
“The successful completion of pin pile installation wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and expertise of the project team, and the strong support of our partners at CDWE,” the developers said in a joint statement. “Next, we remain focused on safely and steadily advancing construction to ensure timely grid connection and power generation.”
Scheduled for commissioning in 2026, the Hai Long wind farm is one of the largest offshore wind projects under development in Asia and is expected to play a significant role in Taiwan’s energy transition and renewable energy targets.
