Independent service provider Deutsche Windtechnik has signed a long-term agreement to maintain 40 turbines at the 200-megawatt Trianel Offshore Wind Farm Borkum 1 in the North Sea, the company said.
The contract, signed with operator Trianel Windkraftwerk Borkum (TWB) on May 19, 2025, covers a period of 10 years and includes an option for a five-year extension. Operations under the agreement are scheduled to begin on December 18, 2025.
The maintenance deal includes full servicing and upkeep of the Adwen AD5-116 wind turbines, excluding major components. It also features a binding energy availability guarantee, according to Deutsche Windtechnik.
“We bring a deep understanding of wind turbines and years of experience with the Adwen AD5-116 to the table,” said Jens Landwehr, managing director of Deutsche Windtechnik Offshore and Consulting. “This is also a signal to the entire industry: Independent service providers are fully capable of delivering reliable service for large offshore projects over the long term.”
Deutsche Windtechnik specialises in the maintenance of wind energy systems and has increased its presence in the offshore segment in recent years, offering technical services to both original equipment manufacturers and independent operators.
Trianel Offshore Wind Farm Borkum 1 is located approximately 45 kilometres north of the island of Borkum in the German sector of the North Sea. The wind farm consists of 40 turbines and has been operational since 2015.
