KK Wind Solutions is entering the green hydrogen industry with the delivery of its largest power supply unit to date. The company will supply a power unit tailored for a 100MW pressurised alkaline electrolyser being developed by Sunfire.
The power supply unit, specifically designed to meet Sunfire’s requirements, will enable the electrolyser to produce green hydrogen at maximum efficiency while minimizing operating costs.
René Balle, Chief Commercial Officer at KK Wind Solutions, said, “As a leading manufacturer of power converters and control systems for the wind industry, combined with the support of our long-term owner, we have the necessary technology and expertise to deliver technology crucial to support the growth of the green hydrogen industry.”
Balle added, “This project strengthens our partnership with industry leaders like Sunfire and underlines the importance of delivering solutions customised to plant-specific electrolyser and grid requirements.”
As part of the agreement, KK Wind Solutions will provide 10 customized power supply units, each comprising transformers, rectifiers, AC connections, and cooling units. The company will also offer full support throughout the plant’s lifecycle, including engineering, installation supervision, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance.
This order marks KK Wind Solutions’ largest delivery of a power supply unit for a green hydrogen system to date.
The company designs and manufactures integrated power supply units that convert alternating current (AC) from the grid to direct current (DC) for electrolysers, which are responsible for converting water into green hydrogen.
KK Wind Solutions has delivered more than 30,000 power conversion systems to the wind industry, with an annual production capacity of over 15GW.
