UAE-based steel fabricator Eversendai Offshore has signed a contract with Spain’s Dragados Offshore to supply structural components for three offshore grid connection systems in Germany, the company said on Tuesday.
The agreement covers the engineering, procurement, fabrication, painting, and assembly of structural steel blocks for the LanWin2, BalWin3, and LanWin4 converter station topsides. These projects are part of the 2-gigawatt (GW) programme led by German transmission system operator TenneT.
The initiative aims to support Germany, the Netherlands, and the wider European Union in meeting climate targets by accelerating renewable energy development in the North Sea.
Fabrication work will be carried out at Eversendai Offshore’s facility in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. The site spans 200,000 square metres and includes 550 metres of quayside, allowing for large-scale modular construction and heavy load handling.
Eversendai said it is committed to delivering the steel blocks for the three offshore topsides by December 2027.
“The offshore grid connection systems LanWin2, BalWin3 and LanWin4 are part of TenneT’s 2GW programme, which aims to help Germany, the Netherlands and Europe achieve ambitious climate targets and develop the North Sea as Europe’s ‘green power plant,’” the company said in a statement.
