Belgian marine engineering group DEME has acquired a 50% stake in Bauer Offshore Technologies, a specialist in drilling services for offshore wind foundation installations, as part of its strategy to strengthen its offshore wind portfolio.
The acquisition was made through DEME Offshore Holding, a subsidiary of the DEME Group. Bauer Offshore Technologies, based in Schrobenhausen, Germany, is part of the Bauer Group and brings expertise in a variety of geotechnical conditions, offering tailored drilling solutions for offshore wind foundations.
“Bauer Offshore Technologies provides safe and efficient drilling methods tailored to the needs of the offshore wind sector,” the companies said in a joint statement.
Under the terms of the agreement, Bauer Offshore Technologies will become part of DEME’s offshore energy segment while continuing to operate under its existing brand. The company’s eight-person team will remain in place, continuing to provide consulting, engineering services, and access to specialised equipment developed by the Bauer Group.
The two firms will also maintain a close working relationship, with the deal including an option for DEME to acquire the remaining 50% stake within five years.
DEME said the acquisition aligns with its aim to offer integrated solutions for the growing offshore wind market, which increasingly demands advanced foundation technologies due to challenging seabed conditions and the rise of larger turbines.
