Verbund Green Power and Chinese solar technology firm Trinasolar have entered into a framework agreement for the supply of 700 megawatts (MW) of solar modules, the companies said in a joint statement.
The five-year deal is intended to secure a reliable pipeline of high-efficiency solar modules for Verbund’s upcoming photovoltaic projects, primarily in Spain and Italy, as the Austrian utility continues to expand its renewable energy portfolio.
The agreement is aligned with Verbund’s long-term strategic plan, “Mission V,” which targets producing 25% of its total electricity generation from solar and onshore wind sources by 2030.
“Teaming up with Trinasolar, undoubtedly one of the world’s most reputable manufacturers of solar solutions with presence in over 100 countries, is the best way forward for VERBUND Green Power to deliver the highest quality standards in our future solar energy plants and to reach our ambitious growth goals throughout Europe,” said Dietmar Reiner, Managing Director of Verbund Green Power.
Verbund currently operates more than 1.1 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity across several European markets including Austria, Germany, Spain, Italy, Romania, and Albania. The company is also developing additional wind and solar projects, several of which are in the construction or advanced development phase.
Trinasolar, headquartered in China, has emphasized its commitment to accelerating the global transition to low-carbon energy through strategic partnerships and technological innovation.
