BayWa r.e., the renewables arm of German energy group BayWa, has secured planning permission for three new solar farm developments in the United Kingdom, the company said on Wednesday.
The approvals include the 30-megawatt Woodlands and 19-megawatt North Farm Mannington projects in Dorset, and the 47.5-megawatt Fleet Solar Farm in Hampshire, granted by Hart District Council.
All three sites incorporate habitat management plans intended to enhance local biodiversity through tree planting, hedgerow development, and the creation of wildflower meadows and grassland. The company also plans to establish community benefit funds for each project.
“We are extremely pleased to have received the green light for three solar farms in England,” said Stuart Davidson, head of project development at BayWa r.e. UK Limited. “Our development team have engaged positively and closely with local stakeholders throughout the planning process, and we would like to thank everybody who proactively participated in this process to help shape these projects and maximise their benefits.”
BayWa r.e. said the projects are aligned with the UK’s CleanPower 2030 ambitions and are intended to contribute affordable, renewable energy to the national grid.
The company aims to begin construction across the three sites in 2027, with a target to bring them online and generating clean electricity by 2028.
