Finnish energy solutions company Enersense has been appointed as the main contractor for Fingrid’s Herva 400/110 kilovolt (kV) substation project, aimed at enhancing grid connectivity for new wind power developments in Northern Ostrobothnia, the company said on Tuesday.
The substation will be constructed in the municipality of Ii and forms part of a broader infrastructure package intended to improve energy transmission from northern Finland to the south. The facility will facilitate the integration of regional wind farms into the national grid as the area continues to see a rise in renewable energy generation.
Enersense is also responsible for building the Herva–Nuojuankangas power line, which will connect directly to the substation. The company noted this project continues its growing role in strengthening the country’s power infrastructure, following its recent completion of the Simojoki substation and ongoing expansion work at Fingrid substations in Vaala and Muhos.
“We’re pleased to see continuity in our ongoing projects, as we have a strong partnership with Fingrid,” said Anssi Niiles, director of substation operations at Enersense. “It’s great to be part of strengthening critical electricity infrastructure that is vital to the functioning of society, while also enabling the clean energy transition.”
The €15 million contract will be booked in Enersense’s Power segment order intake for the second quarter of 2025. The company is expected to remain engaged in the project until the end of 2027.
