German municipal utility Trianel has commissioned its largest ground-mounted solar park to date, a 70.4-megawatt (MW) facility in Wiesenhagen, Brandenburg, developed in partnership with solar and storage company Greentech.
The photovoltaic system spans approximately 48 hectares along the Berlin-Halle railway line and is directly connected to Trianel’s newly constructed 110-kilovolt substation in the region. The project marks the 19th solar installation Greentech has delivered for Trianel in the past two and a half years.
“This project is a milestone in our development activities because it is the largest contiguous solar park we have realised to date,” said Andreas Lemke, head of solar at Trianel. “This required precise planning and detailed co-ordination, which was only possible thanks to the great co-operation with Greentech.”
According to Trianel, the solar park will generate enough electricity to supply more than 51,000 households annually with renewable energy, and it brings the company’s cumulative ground-mounted capacity in Brandenburg to over 165MW.
The development aligns with Germany’s broader push to expand solar capacity as part of its renewable energy transition goals. Trianel, a network of municipal utilities, has been increasingly active in deploying decentralised renewable generation projects across the country.
