Nordex Group reported a 53% rise in profitability for the first quarter of 2025, driven by strong operational performance. The company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) reached €79.6 million, up from €52.1 million in the same period of 2024, resulting in an EBITDA margin of 5.5%, compared to 3.3% in Q1/2024.
Despite a slight decline in sales, which amounted to €1.435 billion in Q1/2025 compared to €1.574 billion in the prior year, Nordex’s overall performance improved. The decrease in sales was primarily attributed to lower installation levels and timing issues related to production.
The company’s total performance, which includes changes in inventories, increased by around 7%, reaching €1.6 billion, up from €1.5 billion in Q1/2024.
José Luis Blanco, CEO of Nordex Group, remarked: “In 2025, we continue to deliver the strong performance from last year. Overall, the first quarter met our expectations with a strong order intake and a further increase in our profitability levels.”
Blanco also highlighted the company’s positive cash flow, stating, “We were able to close the first quarter with a positive free cash flow, reflecting our ongoing strong operational performance. I remain confident of achieving our targets for this year and in the medium term.”
Nordex’s project segment saw an increase in order intake, with 2,182 MW of new orders secured in the first quarter, compared to 2,086 MW during the same period in 2024. This represents a 7% rise in total order value, which reached approximately €1.9 billion, up from €1.8 billion in Q1/2024. Orders were received from 10 different countries for various turbine variants.
As of March 2025, Nordex’s order book stood at €13.5 billion, up from €11.1 billion in March 2024. The order book includes €8.2 billion in the projects segment (up from €7.3 billion in Q1/2024) and €5.2 billion in the service segment (up from €3.8 billion in Q1/2024).
In terms of production, Nordex’s turbine assembly reached 1,210 MW in Q1/2025, reflecting a 3% increase from 1,171 MW in Q1/2024. Rotor blade production also saw a 14% rise, reaching 1,188 units, compared to 1,039 units in the same period last year.
During the first three months of 2025, Nordex installed 180 wind turbines across 12 countries, totaling 1,046 MW, compared to 227 turbines and 1,103 MW in Q1/2024. Of the installations in Q1/2025, 75% were in Europe, 19% in Latin America, and 6% in North America.
The company’s service segment saw growth, with sales increasing by 19% to €197 million in Q1/2025, compared to €166 million in the same period of 2024.
