Danish renewable energy developer GreenGo Energy has completed its largest solar project to date, a 60-megawatt peak (MWp) solar park in Urup, located in the Jutland region of Denmark.
The solar facility is now fully operational and connected to the national grid. It is expected to generate enough electricity to power approximately 6,500 households.
“This project is a testament to our dedication to developing impactful renewable energy solutions,” said Jean-Christophe Girouard, chief operating officer of GreenGo Energy. “As the largest solar park we’ve developed, built, and commissioned in the country to date, it represents a major milestone in our journey, with more ambitious projects already on the horizon.”
The Urup park features solar panels equipped with tracker systems that adjust to the sun’s position throughout the day, increasing energy yield. The facility is co-located with a wind farm to maximise land efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
The project is owned by Israel-based Doral Energy, a company active in renewable energy development and investment.
“We are thrilled to see this project come to fruition and make a meaningful contribution to the transition toward clean energy,” said Yaki Noyman, chief executive of Doral Energy. “Collaborating with GreenGo Energy on this remarkable solar park has been a rewarding experience, and we look forward to further advancing sustainable energy together.”
The development is part of a broader trend in Denmark to scale up solar and wind capacity in support of national and EU climate targets. GreenGo Energy said the project underscores its confidence in the Danish market and plans to pursue additional large-scale renewables in the region.
