Greening, through its U.S. subsidiary Greening USA, has entered into a joint venture with Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure to co-develop renewable energy and battery storage projects in the United States, the companies announced on Wednesday.
The partnership aims to advance photovoltaic and battery energy storage systems (BESS), both as integrated solutions and as standalone installations, across regions managed by the Midcontinent Independent System Operator South (MISO South) and the Southwest Power Pool (SPP).
Greening USA will contribute a development pipeline of approximately 1,000 MWac in solar and/or storage capacity to the joint venture, while Atlantica will provide financial backing. The goal is to progress the projects to a ready-to-build (RtB) stage, at which point the partners will determine whether to retain or divest the assets.
“This partnership marks a significant milestone in our US expansion strategy,” said Ignacio Salcedo, CEO of Greening. “By combining our technical expertise with Atlantica’s experience as a leading infrastructure investor, we are building a strong platform for developing high-quality renewable projects in one of our core markets.”
The alliance is expected to accelerate the delivery of projects that enhance grid reliability and support regional decarbonisation objectives. Both companies have also committed to jointly identify additional renewable and storage opportunities to be added to the venture in the coming years.
The agreement outlines a framework to streamline project development, financing, and execution, aligning with both companies’ focus on sustainable infrastructure and long-term stakeholder value.
Greening said the move supports its broader Strategic Plan, published in May 2024, which highlights the integration of financial partners as a key element in advancing its clean energy portfolio in the U.S.
