Blaze Manufacturing Solutions, a UK-based company, has secured fire safety contracts for the Baltyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms in Poland. The wind farms, set to have a combined capacity of 1.4 gigawatts (GW), are being developed by Equinor and Polenergia through a joint venture in the Baltic Sea.
Steel company Iemants awarded Blaze the contracts for the design, supply, and commissioning of fire alarm and extinguishing systems for the offshore substations at the Baltyk 2 and 3 sites. Blaze stated that the contract win underscores its expertise in providing critical fire protection solutions for large-scale renewable energy projects.
“We are delighted to have been chosen for this important project,” said Anne Johnson, External Relations Director at Blaze. “The Baltyk 2 and 3 wind farms represent a significant investment in renewable energy, and we are proud to contribute our expertise in fire safety to ensure their safe and efficient operation.”
The contract covers the entire process, including design, engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning of the fire safety systems. Blaze plans to utilize advanced technologies and best practices to deliver fire detection, suppression, and control systems that can withstand the demanding offshore environment.
Blaze’s technical director, Greg Carnie, highlighted the company’s experience in the offshore wind sector, noting, “This demonstrates a deep understanding of the fire safety requirements and presents a compelling solution that aligns with the project goals. With our experience and commitment to quality and safety, this gave Iemants the confidence to select Blaze for this critical aspect of the project.”
The Baltyk 2 and 3 wind farms are expected to deliver their first power in 2027, contributing to Poland’s growing renewable energy capacity in the Baltic Sea.
