Bluestream Offshore, a subsidiary of Octopus Energy Group (OEG), has been awarded a contract by Equinor and Polenergia to deliver corrosion protection for the foundations at the Baltyk 2&3 offshore wind projects off the coast of Poland.

The contract involves the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of a corrosion protection system for 100 monopile foundations at the wind farms. The project will deploy an Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) system, along with the co-developed ICCP-Subsea Assembly Method (ICCP-SAM), a technology designed to remotely install ICCP anodes on monopile foundations in challenging ocean conditions.

The ICCP-SAM system is compact and can be deployed without divers, reducing the need for resources while offering flexibility and efficiency. It can be transported with minimal resources and installed from the topside of the offshore foundation, even in rough conditions.

Bluestream Offshore will oversee the overall project performance and offshore installation, utilizing a DP-2 walk-to-work vessel and topside and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) personnel. CORROSION, the key partner, will be responsible for the design and fabrication of the ICCP systems.

Rutger Lieverse, Commercial Manager at Bluestream, commented: “We are honoured by the trust Equinor and Polenergia have placed in Bluestream and proud to secure our first EPCI contract. This milestone not only reinforces the value of our ICCP SAM solution but also underscores our commitment to delivering sustainable, long-term services to the Polish offshore wind sector as part of our broader European presence.”

Martin Rosmolen, CEO of CORROSION, said: “We are proud to see our ICCP systems protecting offshore wind farms worldwide and to secure our third project featuring ICCP-SAM, co-developed with Bluestream. This innovation sets a new benchmark for corrosion protection with enhanced flexibility and a future-proof design backed by a proven track record.”

The Baltyk 2&3 projects are part of Poland’s growing offshore wind sector, as the country continues to invest in renewable energy and expand its offshore wind capacity. The partnership between Bluestream, Equinor, and Polenergia highlights the ongoing advancements in offshore wind technology and the growing importance of sustainable solutions in the sector.
