Peak Wind has signed an operations management agreement (OMA) to oversee the operations of the 495MW Fengmiao 1 offshore wind farm in Taiwan, developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). The agreement focuses on ensuring the efficient and reliable operations of the wind farm, as Peak Wind continues to strengthen its operational setup in Taiwan.
Located approximately 35 kilometers off the coast of Taichung, central Taiwan, Fengmiao 1 will be the first offshore wind project in Taiwan to be supported by corporate offtakers. The project aims to supply clean energy to large energy users across Taiwan, contributing significantly to the country’s renewable energy goals.
Fengmiao 1 is CIP’s third offshore wind project in Taiwan, following the successful completion of Changfang & Xidao and Zhongneng. The wind farm is set to consist of 33 15MW turbines and will be supported by an offshore substation to ensure smooth operations. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
Nick Davies, APAC regional director at Peak Wind, commented on the milestone: “It’s so good to see Fengmiao 1 crossing the financial close line amidst the challenges that have been felt across Taiwan’s Round 3 Zonal Development Offshore Wind Auction. This milestone marks another significant step in Peak Wind’s journey as we secure our third operations management agreement in Taiwan.”
He added, “It stands as a testament to the exceptional performance of our local team on the ground, the trust our customers and project partners place in us, and our reputation as global leaders in offshore wind asset management.
