Shinfox Far East Energy has successfully installed the first jacket foundation for the 300-megawatt (MW) Taipower Offshore Wind Farm Phase 2 (TPC-II) project off the coast of Changhua County, Taiwan. The jacket, standing taller than a 20-storey building and weighing more than 10 Boeing 747 aircraft, is now secured on the seabed, marking a significant milestone in the wind farm’s construction.
The jacket foundations are designed to provide robust support for the wind turbines, ensuring stable and efficient clean energy generation. The installation was carried out using the crane vessel SFE Hercules, which has been instrumental in the project’s progress.
A Shinfox spokesperson highlighted the collaborative effort behind the milestone, stating, “From design and manufacturing to transportation and installation, our dedicated team and partners worked hand in hand – riding on Hercules, we overcame challenges along the way. A huge thanks to everyone involved!” The spokesperson added, “Now, we’re moving full speed ahead with wind farm construction, driving Taiwan and the world toward a more sustainable future.”
The TPC-II project is part of Taiwan’s broader push to expand its renewable energy capacity and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Offshore wind farms are a key component of the island’s energy transition strategy, with the Changhua County region emerging as a hub for such developments.
The installation of the first jacket foundation underscores the technical complexity and scale of offshore wind projects. Each jacket is engineered to withstand harsh marine conditions while providing a stable base for the turbines, which will harness wind energy to generate electricity for thousands of households.
Shinfox’s progress on the TPC-II project reflects Taiwan’s commitment to achieving its renewable energy targets and contributing to global efforts to combat climate change. The company’s focus on innovation and collaboration has been central to overcoming the challenges associated with offshore wind farm construction.
As the project moves forward, Shinfox aims to maintain momentum, ensuring the timely completion of the wind farm. Once operational, the TPC-II project is expected to play a significant role in Taiwan’s renewable energy landscape, providing clean, reliable power and supporting the island’s sustainable development goals.
