Food packaging company Faerch has secured a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Eurowind Energy, ensuring an annual supply of 70,000MWh of green electricity from the upcoming Novogrodek wind energy park in Poland. This amount of renewable energy is expected to meet the annual electricity consumption of approximately 17,500 Danish households, according to Eurowind.

Tom Sand-Kristensen, Group Chief Financial Officer at Faerch, stated, “With this PPA with Eurowind Energy, Faerch will benefit from a reliable source of renewable power, helping us reduce our carbon footprint and support the energy transition in Poland. By securing renewable energy for our operations, we are enhancing the sustainability of our Polish sites while contributing to the increase of renewable energy in the Polish grid.”

The agreement is part of Faerch’s broader Renewable Energy Strategy, which aims to power all its facilities with renewable energy through additional PPAs. Faerch’s renewable energy sourcing in Poland will exceed 85% of its total electricity consumption by 2027, thanks to this wind PPA and an existing solar PPA.

Jesper Schaumburg-Düring, Commercial Director at Eurowind Energy, commented, “Faerch exemplifies how the procurement of green electricity can be a simple yet impactful strategy for companies striving for climate neutrality. We are dedicated to expanding our green energy portfolio through numerous upcoming projects, positioning ourselves as a preferred partner for visionary companies like Faerch that prioritize ambitious climate objectives.”

The Novogrodek wind energy park is currently in the pre-construction phase, with turbines commissioned from Vestas. The park is expected to begin operations by early 2027.
