, a leading company, has installed the first in its Saint-Brieuc wind farm in France. The wind turbine was installed by and the operation was carried out from the jack-up vessel Brave Tern, which is owned by Fred Olsen Windcarrier. The Saint-Brieuc wind farm will have a total capacity of 496MW, with 62 wind turbines installed on the northern coast of Brittany.

The installation of the first wind turbine on position number SB44 is a significant milestone for the Saint-Brieuc wind farm, which is now in its final stretch before it can start producing renewable and carbon-free energy for Bretons. Emmanuel Rollin, managing director of Iberdrola France, stated that the project represents a great industrial adventure that the region can be proud of.

The wind turbines of the Saint-Brieuc wind farm are being manufactured in France, on the industrial site of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, located on the port of Le Havre. About 900 jobs have been mobilized for their fabrication and assembly, making this a significant boost to the local economy. The towers of the wind turbines were previously equipped by Haizea Wind on the Brest polder, and the assembly of all the internal elements continues to mobilize about forty on-site jobs.

The installation vessel Brave Tern will carry out several iterations in the coming months from Le Havre, with the constituent elements of four wind turbines on board each time. The successful installation of the first offshore wind turbine is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the Brittany region, local stakeholders, and Iberdrola teams. It is a step forward in the transition to renewable energy and demonstrates Iberdrola's commitment to sustainable development.
