Doosan Enerbility has signed an agreement with Siemens Gamesa to construct a manufacturing plant for assembling Siemens Gamesa’s 14MW offshore wind turbine in Changwon, South Korea.

Under the agreement, Doosan Enerbility will design and build the plant and production system for the wind turbine. Siemens Gamesa will assist by facilitating technology transfer, providing manpower support, and offering training to enhance Doosan Enerbility’s capacity for nacelle assembly.

Sohn Seung-woo, head of Power Service BG at Doosan Enerbility, stated, “Through this agreement, the cooperative relationship between the two companies, which is based on mutual trust, has taken a step forward in practical implementation.” He added, “Through the synergy of cooperation between the two companies, we will contribute to the revitalization of the domestic offshore wind power ecosystem as well as the expansion of carbon-free energy.”

Dr. Falk Mehdorn, Vice President and Head of Nacelles at Siemens Gamesa, emphasized the importance of the partnership, saying, “The collaboration with Doosan has been instrumental in securing a healthy project pipeline in South Korea. Doosan is a strong and reliable partner for us to enter the South Korean offshore wind market. We will ensure a smooth technology transfer and work closely together to introduce our 14 MW turbine in South Korean waters.”

The establishment of the new plant is expected to strengthen South Korea’s offshore wind industry, contributing to the country’s renewable energy goals.
