European Energy and TotalEnergies have deployed three vessels to conduct seabed surveys in the designated area for the Jammerland Bugt , located between Kerteminde on Funen and Kalundborg on Zealand, Denmark.

The Jammerland Bugt project, in which TotalEnergies holds an 85% stake and European Energy a 15% interest, aims to install 16 turbines with a combined capacity of 240 MW. Once operational, expected in 2029, the wind farm will provide power to over 240,000 European households.

The three vessels will carry out detailed seabed measurements to assess the area's geological composition and overall condition. This data is crucial for the precise design of wind turbine foundations, planning cable routes, and other installations necessary for the project's development.

“Geophysical surveys play a crucial role in the development of offshore wind projects,” said Andreas Karhula Lauridsen, vice president and head of offshore wind at European Energy. “They provide us with insight into the seabed's structure and ensure that we can plan construction with the highest precision and minimal impact on the marine environment.”

The vessels will operate from the ports of Kerteminde and Nyborg on Funen, where they will remain until the surveys are completed in August. The collected data will be analyzed to refine the planning and design of the offshore wind farm.

In addition to the vessel-based surveys, drone flights will also be conducted along the coast to gather further information. Following the completion of the Jammerland Bugt surveys, the same vessels will be used for geophysical studies of the Lillebælt Syd wind farm, located between Sønderborg and Assens, set to begin in April.

The surveys are an integral step in the wind farm's development, ensuring a solid foundation for its construction while minimizing environmental impact.
