Nordex has been awarded a contract to supply and install 19 N163/5.X turbines for the Cajuina 3 wind farm, part of the Cajuina Wind Complex in Brazil. The project, commissioned by Auren Energia, will add 112 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy capacity to the region.
The turbines will be installed in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, within the municipality of Lajes, with work set to begin in early 2026. Each of the 19 turbines will operate at 5.9MW on 120-meter concrete towers, with commissioning scheduled for autumn 2026.
Under the agreement, Nordex will also provide servicing for the turbines for an initial period of 15 years, with the option to extend up to 30 years. This contract follows Nordex's successful delivery of 120 N163/5.X turbines, totaling 684MW, for the Cajuina 1 and Cajuina 2 wind farms in the same complex.
Auren Energia, Brazil's third-largest energy producer, operates in nine Brazilian states and specializes in 100% renewable energy. The company owns 39 energy assets, producing wind, solar, and hydroelectric power, with a total installed capacity of 8.8GW.
According to Auren Energia, “This project marks a significant step towards expanding our renewable energy portfolio and enhancing our operational capacity in Brazil.
