Haventus is collaborating with project developers, global floating hull designers, and heavy-lift technology businesses to develop an on-land assembly solution for offshore floating wind turbine foundations. The project is centered around Haventus’ Ardersier Energy Transition Facility (Ardersier ETF), located in the Scottish Highlands, which is being prepared as a base for deploying the next generation of floating turbines required to help decarbonize the UK power grid.
The proposed on-land assembly approach aims to simplify the operational, logistical, and engineering challenges typically associated with marine-based turbine integration. By facilitating onshore assembly and storage, the solution would provide a stable environment for turbines ahead of deployment windows, offering an attractive alternative to traditional offshore assembly methods.
The Ardersier ETF, currently covering 350 acres with plans for an expansion to 500 acres, is one of the few European sites large enough to accommodate this type of land-based solution. Detailed technical work is underway, involving Haventus, floating hull designers, heavy-lift experts, and project developers to finalize the configuration and required operations for the assembly process.
Haventus Chief Executive Lewis Gillies said, “Our stated intent is to crystalize the industrialization of floating wind, that involves attracting manufacturers to the site and taking an innovative approach to significantly reduce the deployment risk for developers. Ultimately, it also supports the pace and scale at which clean energy goes into the grid.

The land availability at the Ardersier ETF makes it the perfect location. Through our partnership with leading floating hull designers and heavy-lift experts, and the technical results to date, we are confident that delivering an integrated turbine from land assembly, ready for sail-away from quayside, is a solution Haventus can deliver.
