Statkraft has officially commissioned the 47MW Cernégula in the Castilla y León region of Spain, marking the company's second wind project in the province of Burgos. The wind farm, which consists of eight turbines, will generate enough energy to meet the annual consumption of approximately 36,000 homes.

The €54 million investment has also contributed to the creation of 140 jobs in the region. Statkraft has taken several environmental measures to mitigate the impact of the wind farm, including the installation of stereoscopic systems to monitor bird activity. These systems are equipped with an automatic shutdown module that halts turbine operation to avoid bird collisions.

In collaboration with the Natural Heritage Foundation of Castilla y León, Statkraft has also promoted the creation of a wetland area in the municipality of Santa Olalla and a bird observatory near the lagoon.

Statkraft is also advancing plans for a new wind and solar hybrid project in the province. The Abrazadilla project, which will include three wind turbines with a total capacity of 21.6MW and a 16.5MW photovoltaic solar plant, will be the company's first hybrid renewable development in Spain. The solar plant will cover an area of approximately 40 hectares.

The Abrazadilla project will be located across several municipalities, including Ausines, Ibeas de Juarros, Arceo de Burgos, and Revilla del Campo. Statkraft has already received grid access, connection permits, and environmental viability approval for the project, and is in the process of informing local communities about the development.
