Pacific Green has signed a deal to sell its 250MW Limestone Coast North Energy Park in South Australia to Intera Renewables for A$460 million (US$293 million). The project, which will be one of the largest battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the region, is scheduled to begin commercial operations in early 2027.
The sale, which includes 100% of the shares in the energy park, is to Intera Renewables, a platform majority-owned by Australian infrastructure fund manager Palisade Investment Partners. Pacific Green confirmed it had completed binding documentation for the transaction, marking a significant step in the company's Australian expansion.
The Limestone Coast North Energy Park is part of Pacific Green's broader 10GWh battery storage pipeline across Australia. The project will provide critical storage capacity to South Australia's electricity grid. Pacific Green's CEO, Scott Poulter, commented, “Limestone Coast North is critical to South Australia's electricity network and is the first of Pacific Green's 10GWh Australian pipeline. We are also very pleased to enter into the first of a portfolio of long-term tolling Power Purchase Agreements with Zen Energy.”
As part of the transaction, Pacific Green will oversee the construction of the project until its commercial operation in 2027. Afterward, Palisade Integrated Management Services will assume responsibility for asset management under its role as Intera's asset manager.
Palisade's executive director, Simon Parbery, highlighted the importance of the deal, saying, “We are excited to be working with Pacific Green on this significant project for both our investors, and Australia's broader clean energy transition goals. Limestone Coast North represents Palisade's first investment in large-scale energy storage, providing both attractive risk-adjusted returns, as well as long-term strategic benefits for our Australian renewables platform.”
In addition to Limestone Coast North, Pacific Green is advancing other battery storage projects in Australia. Grid approvals for its 250MW / 1000MWh Limestone Coast West project are nearing completion, with construction expected to begin in September 2025. Additionally, the company is finalizing development approval for the 100MW / 2500MWh Portland Energy Park in Victoria, with construction set to start in March 2026.
The company also announced its acquisition of land rights in Wagga Wagga in November 2024, marking its entry into New South Wales with a new project.
