Geo Green Power has completed the installation of solar panels at 13 motorway service stations across the UK under a £1.1 million contract with Moto Hospitality. The move is part of Moto’s efforts to enhance its sustainability and reduce its carbon footprint.

The solar panels, which are expected to generate an estimated 1,240 MWh annually, have been installed at service stations including Winchester North, Wetherby, Grantham, and Thurrock, among others. This initiative will contribute to reducing emissions by approximately 311 tonnes of CO2 annually.

Moto Hospitality, which operates over 60 service stations across the UK, has set ambitious targets to reduce its carbon footprint, with renewable energy playing a central role in meeting those goals.

Jess Lockwood, property director at Moto, commented, “At Moto, we recognise the critical role we play in driving the UK towards a more environmentally friendly and net-zero future. A key element of this is helping the motorway network embrace green energy and renewable solutions. That’s why we chose Geo Green Power – a knowledgeable and trusted expert in the field – to carry out this solar installation across 13 of our sites.”

Geo Green Power secured the contract through a competitive tendering process, which included 12 other companies. The renewable energy specialist will also provide a five-year maintenance contract as part of the deal.

James Cunningham, managing director of Geo Green Power, said, “We’re delighted to be working with Moto Hospitality on their journey to net zero. Our mission extends beyond just helping Moto reduce their emissions; we aim to inspire other businesses to evaluate their environmental footprint and adopt sustainable practices to create a greener future for everyone.
