RWE has unveiled its 2025 Apprenticeship Programme, offering 32 new opportunities for individuals to contribute to the UK’s transition to a sustainable energy future. The roles span offshore wind technician positions, generation technicians, graduate schemes, and year-in-industry placements, all aimed at developing talent critical to RWE’s ambition of achieving Net Zero by 2040.

The initiative underscores RWE’s commitment to building a skilled and diverse workforce necessary to meet the growing demands of the renewable energy sector. The 2025 apprenticeship programme reflects the ongoing evolution of careers within the energy industry, moving from traditional coal-generation apprenticeships over 50 years ago to modern, cutting-edge training focused on offshore wind and green generation.

RWE UK Country Chair Tom Glover emphasized the importance of the programme, stating: “Our apprentices are the future of RWE and are at the very heart of our ambition to be carbon neutral across all our operations by 2040.” He added, “As we expand our clean generation capacity, these talented individuals will play a vital role in shaping the future energy system.” Glover also noted that apprenticeships are not just about gaining skills but are a pathway to building careers, transforming lives, and inspiring the next generation to power the transition to a sustainable world.

The apprenticeship programmes will last between two and four years, offering a combination of hands-on training at operational sites and classroom-based learning. To ensure the selection of top candidates, the programme includes a rigorous process with assessment centres, team exercises, and interviews.

In addition to the 2025 apprenticeship roles, RWE also offers a range of programmes designed to enhance skills, including industrial placements, higher apprenticeships, fast-track generation technician programmes, and graduate schemes. RWE’s dedicated online apprenticeship hub provides information on available roles and advice for applicants.

The Galloper Wind Farm, part of RWE’s Five Estuaries sister project, has also supported the Offshore Wind Turbine Technician apprenticeship programme, successfully guiding four apprentices through the programme and offering another placement this year. Conor Nicholson, Business and Stakeholder Coordinator at Galloper, commented: “We are proud to have successfully led four talented students through the apprenticeship programme, helping them to kickstart their career in one of the UK’s fastest-growing industries.”
