Ocean Winds Chooses Port-la-Nouvelle as Maintenance Port for EFGL Floating Wind Project

Ocean Winds has selected Port-la-Nouvelle as the maintenance port for its 30MW floating offshore wind project, Les Eoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion (EFGL), located in the French Mediterranean.

The EFGL project, backed by Ocean Winds and Banque des Territoires, is designed to provide renewable power to over 50,000 residents along the Mediterranean coast. The maintenance operations for the project will be based at Euroports' Port-la-Nouvelle, a strategic site that Ocean Winds has highlighted for its role in the region's energy transition.

In a statement, Ocean Winds emphasized the importance of the location: “Port-la-Nouvelle's growing role as a hub for the energy transition in the Mediterranean makes it a strategic location for floating wind development.”

The EFGL project is slated to begin operations in spring 2025, with an expected operational lifespan of 20 years. It will consist of three Vestas V164 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 10MW.
