Germany's Federal Network Agency has awarded 242 bids totaling 2150MW in its most recent ground-mounted solar tender, which closed on December 1, 2024. The auction drew 524 bids, amounting to 4708MW, significantly surpassing the awarded volume.
Klaus Müller, President of the Federal Network Agency, commented on the results: “The bid volume received in the ground-mounted tender once again significantly exceeds the tender volume. The persistently high level of competition is causing a further reduction in the award values. The funding requirement for new ground-mounted systems will thus fall even further.”
The auction revealed a wide range of bid prices, with award values varying between 3.88 euro cents per kWh and 4.95 euro cents per kWh. The average volume-weighted award value for this round stood at 4.76 euro cents per kWh, marking a decrease of approximately 6% from the previous round. This is the lowest award value recorded since the February 2019 bidding round.
As with prior rounds, the majority of awarded volumes came from sites in Bavaria, which accounted for 916MW with 120 successful bids. Other regions such as Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, Baden-Württemberg, and Brandenburg also contributed, with award volumes of 213MW, 192MW, 176MW, and 170MW, respectively.
The next ground-mounted solar tender is scheduled for March 1, 2025, marking the first segment of the upcoming round.
