The PNE Group has successfully commissioned two new onshore wind farms in France and Germany, furthering its ambitions as an independent power producer (IPP). The latest additions bring the total rated power from wind farms operated by the company to more than 434MW.
The newly operational wind farms include the Saint-Aubin-du-Plain project in France's Nouvelle-Aquitaine region and the Herbsleben-Dachwig project in Germany's Thuringia. The Saint-Aubin-du-Plain wind farm marks a significant milestone for PNE Group as the first wind farm outside Germany to be added to its operational portfolio.
The project in France was planned and realized by WKN France, the French subsidiary of PNE AG. It entered trial operation at the end of 2024 and began its transition phase in mid-January. The wind farm is set to enter into a 20-year contract for difference (CFD) tomorrow. The facility features three Nordex N131 turbines, each with a nominal capacity of 3.6MW, contributing to green electricity production.
Meanwhile, at the Herbsleben-Dachwig wind farm in Germany, two Nordex N149 turbines, each with a nominal capacity of 5.7MW, have been commissioned. The wind farms together increase PNE Group's own-generation portfolio by 22.2MW.
PNE Group's efforts are aimed at bolstering its position as an independent power producer. CEO Heiko Wuttke commented, “The commissioning of the Saint-Aubin-du-Plain and Herbsleben-Dachwig wind farms are the first successes this year. The expansion of our own operations is an important part of our strategy, which continues to focus on robust growth.
Sven Dippel, Executive Vice President for Energy Production/IPP at PNE AG, noted, “With the commissioning of our French wind farm Saint-Aubind-du-Plain, we have reached an important milestone for the PNE Group in the expansion of our IPP portfolio. We are thus taking over our first project outside of Germany into our own operation and are continuing our strategy of establishing and expanding it in our defined core markets.
